Our attention turns to Remembrance Day at this time of the year.

In January 2022 Marjorie Rigby, 89, from Frodsham started knitting poppies and ten months later she had completed 1,200. The hand knitted poppies were sown onto ribbons and assembled by the villagers of Great Barrow, near Chester, to display in the heart of their village for Remembrance Day 2022

Marjorie’s father William Thomas Moore served in the First World War with the Fourth Battalion the Cheshire Regiment before transferring to the Machine Gun Corps. Marjorie is immensely proud of her family’s connection with the Cheshire Regiment and delighted her work is a new display in the Cheshire Military Museum

We look forward to welcoming you to the museum. Check the website for opening hours.
